tSOB - Save our Bev aka SOS
by Bev

Wow, what a great year yet again:

Bronze at BCYT Sections
Bronze at Westerns, Camrose, AB
Fourth at BCYT Festival

We were off to a rocky start: Linda and I both in green casts, Jill with her fused big toe and we lost 3 valuable skaters, 2 stayed on the keep us in line: Linda with her wonderful Friday reminders, and Sonia keeps all our dollars and cents accounted for.

We gained 2 new members: Heather and Kathy, thank you ladies, you were FABULOUS, Kathy, bless you for coming week after week even though you never knew who you were, we all give you a big "Silhouette" salute for being part of our team. We thank you and love you for your infectious laugh and runway model smile, and of course you 5-6-7-8. Then, there is Heather, thank you, thank you, thank you, you were terrific, we pushed, shoved, pulled, tripped and you too, kept coming back week after week. We even made her sleep in the "KITTEN" room on our Edmonton trip, Heather, it's our secret (Monika's note: Can some please explain me what that means?)

now comes our "Westerns" tip, from freezing our behinds off, buses not showing up, freezing our behinds off, to rattles nerves, and freezing our behinds (Monika's note: It was not that bad, I was loving it !!) and two of the best skates we have ever had. Oh yes, the BUS TRIP: making a U Turn on a snow, icy, rural and narrow road, in a Motor coach at 10.30 PM with 9 women and 1 man on board, and of course, the crazy bus driver. The 2 lovely young RCMP officers, that we dutifully invited into the bus, to warm them up, but sadly they declined. But we  are survivors, we put our strategy into practice, and broke out the chips, crackers, left over sandwiches and Bev's open bar. But not to worry: we had Sharon following with Heather and coach, off they went back to the fortress, to seek help and bring back the Rescue Rangers. So gathering more provisions and Fiona, Karen, Linda following in the covered wagon, they set up to rescue the 9 maidens and 1 man. But wait, Mr. Bus driver dug us out and away we went, to arrive back at the hotel before the bar closed. Great !

Colleen, you also had quite the season too. Marcel being so ill, going through 3 surgeries, recovering, and on the mend, your son Mark returning home with his Becca, and your two new babies (one has 4 legs, and the other one is your precious baby Lily) See, I told you being grandparent is way better and easier then being a Mom. Your passion, talent, caring , sincerity and the love this awesome sport touches each and every one of us in the room in such a special way that we not only skate for ourselves, but for you too. You accept all shapes, sizes, levels of ability, age and mold us in Lines, pass throughs (forwards and backwards), Circles, Silhouette Brackets, 3 turns, twizzles and even moving circles, and amazingly , we become this beautiful, moving synchronized group of women that float across the ice and we achieve: 16 on and 16 off. Colleen, we love you, adore you and cherish your friendship!!

In closing this season, we want to acknowledge all of our stars for their accomplishments in dance test and competitions. Each and every one on this team is a STAR, we pull together to accomplish our goals we set out for each season, our family at Christmas, Jingle Blades Chocolate and Flowers sale, supporting Coach and others in times of stress and strife, even our team name alone draws a crowd, we surely have made a name for ourselves, and we have gained the respect of many of our Peers, we prove it year after year.

Well done, ladies, wait until next year, the best is yet to come. I silhouette you all.

Bev
